Performing with pianist Elena Toponogova at Foglie d’Autunno (Autumen Leaves), part of the Blanc European Festival, was an experience I will carry with me for years to come. This event beautifully brought together art, nature, and human connection. This year’s tribute to Giulia Cecchettin, marking one year since her untimely disappearance, held a deeply personal significance for me.
I vividly remember the day Giulia’s lifeless body was discovered in Barcis. She was a young woman whose life was tragically cut short in an act of violence, leaving a community in mourning and a story that touched so many hearts. I was there, and the news hit me with an indescribable weight. Her story has stayed with me since, a quiet but persistent reminder of life’s fragility. It felt almost like a calling to dedicate a concert to her memory, and this festival provided the perfect opportunity to fulfill that promise.
The evening’s performance was profoundly emotional. The audience’s quiet attention and the reverberation of music created a sacred atmosphere. It was as if nature itself joined in the tribute, embracing the memory of Giulia with the serenity of the season. Through music, I hoped to celebrate her spirit and the impact she had on those who knew her.
As the autumn leaves fall and time continues its steady march forward, I’ll carry this memory with me. Honoring Giulia in this way reaffirmed the power of music to heal, connect, and commemorate. My hope is that this tribute brought comfort to those who loved her and served as a testament to her enduring presence in our hearts.
I want to thank the municipality of Barcis, 𝘍𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘻𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘎𝘪𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘪 𝘚𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘖𝘯𝘭𝘶𝘴, 𝘏𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘭 𝘚𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯, 𝘎𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘪, 𝘋𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦, 𝘍𝘭𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘰 𝘋𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘢𝘯, 𝘈𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘳 and 𝘍𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘱𝘢 for their support.
