📆 I’m thrilled to announce that on September 27th, 2024, at 1:00 PM, I will be performing a solo cello recital at the Hexham Abbey Festival, one of the most prestigious festivals in England. The concert will take place in the magnificent setting of Hexham Abbey, a place rich in history, with a perfect acoustic to enhance the depth and beauty of the sound of the cello.

🌳 The recital represents also a celebration of the first anniversary of the felling of the world-renown Sycamore Gap Tree, the three-centuries-old tree that grew along Hadrian's Wall and was vandalized last year. This will be a special occasion where I will once again perform my composition “Lament for the Tree”, composed and premiered last year at the site where the tree once stood. Alongside this composition, which holds a special place in my repertoire, I will perform J.S. Bach's wonderful Cello Suites No. 1 and 2, creating a musical journey that blends remembrance and beauty.

In early October 2023, I ventured to visit the beloved tree, whose presence was able to evoke deep and universal emotions. The felling of this natural symbol drew widespread media attention, with many expressing their sorrow over the loss of such a cherished element of Britain's landscape heritage. Despite its physical absence, the image of the Sycamore Gap Tree continues to live on in collective memory and in the thousands of photographs taken by those who visited it. Many hope a new tree will be planted in the same spot so that the landscape can continue to tell the story of this fascinating and historically significant place.

📍The Hexham Abbey, with its Gothic architecture and extraordinary acoustics, is the perfect location for a solo recital. The abbey's historic context, combined with the grandeur of its setting, enriches every note and creates an intimate and evocative atmosphere, allowing the music to express itself with all its intensity.

I can't wait to share this unique experience with you. It will be a special recital, full of emotions and sounds that reflect the profound nature of the cello. 🎻
